Replacing the existing flow meters

As part of this program, IBI investigated the flow meters between the City of Toronto and the York Region, along the north curb line of Steeles Avenue, the boundary between the two jurisdictions.

IBI worked on upgrades for ten new electromagnetic flow meters, one replacement electromagnetic meter along with six other electromagnetic flow meters installations. This included work on the Bayview Pumping Station, Thornhill Pumping Station and Yonge Elgin meter chambers. Work on these meter chambers was scheduled in the low flow season (September 15 to May 15) and our multidisciplinary team worked closely with City staff to leverage the expertise gained in the previous upgrades of the other chambers.

Steel piping was used throughout, with the exception of Bayview PS, where existing records indicated that prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) was used for the installation.
